Kite & Dine
Monteverde Restaurant: http://monteverderestaurant.com
; $$$$
Awesome view of the Hudson River, great food, great service, beautiful setting. Located north of the park, worth the extra drive. Be sure to try the desserts.
Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant: Briarcliff Manor, on Rte. 9.
; $$
Mediocre food, bad service, noisy.
Next exit off 9, north of Croton Park exit, RTE. 129 in strip mall:
Azul Mexican Grill: heard from a local it is not too good. But could be an OK take out option.
Gourmet shop in this strip mall looks like a great place to get prepared food for lunch or dinner.

There is an $8 parking fee to get into the park. If you come in after 4:30, you don't have to pay.
If you think you will be there fairly often (there is also camping and cabins there), you can buy a membership fee for $45. It is good for 3 years and lets you into the park for $4 plus discounted camping fees.

Maybe this is what one of the locals was referring to when he mentioned looking out for stuff in the water?? I did notice all the local kiters were wearing booties...I pointed this out to Joe before he went out: who BTW did get his foot punctured. In addition to the waterchestnuts, there were also glass on the beach and a syringe (no needle).
I think they are more nasty than the crab carapaces on kitebeach.

|
|
Has anyone checked out the alternate site at Croton Point Park?
Big shallow bay, no swimmers, etc... , isolated beach. At the most there might be a few small fishing boats in the entire shallow bay.
Park at the head of the RV park. There's a parking lot just before the RV area. Walk down the road a short ways to the beach. Winds primarily coming up the Hudson right into the beach.
