Hey Wahines,
Anybody know of good windsurfing spots on Kauai? I've heard the south
side is the best, but that was just one guy's opinion. My friends are
organizing a big group vacation and they're leaning toward the north
side, but I've heard that the south side has better weather. We'll
probably be going May 18-25.
Let me know if you have experience/suggestions for Kauai!
Thanks,
Sarah B.

Let me ask my BIL who is from HI. Give me a day to get an answer as he is out to sea right now.

Phew. Kaua'i is pretty much expert only other than at Anini on the north shore where its a reef protected cove. The rest of the sites are pretty much reef. I go every year to kite and most of the locals have moved over to kiting. Bring everything you need. There are no shops. Bring extra fins because you will clunk them. I don't know where on the south shore your friend was talking about but, as I said, even there the reef dominates.
Respect the locals and do not windsurf anywhere there are surfers out. They will "teach" you respect if you dont show it.
Aloha, and good luck.
PS Rental gear, if you can find it is primitive and the rental guy is hard to locate, he's a "Where's Waldo" type. |
